About Me
Hi Iām Rachel! I am a current graduate student in the University of Washington Human Centered Design & Engineering program.
Throughout my undergrad business school years and my career, I was taught to focus on business objectives and how to harness technology to meet business goals and needs. However, I have always felt this strong obligation to help others and this is why, after seven years as an accountant, I am working towards becoming a UX designer and accessibility advocate.
I love that design can be empathetic, useful, usable, and accessible.
As augmented and virtual technologies are becoming increasingly ubiquitous, I see the potential for making everyday life easier and possibly better, especially for those living with disabilities and impairments. However, I also see a strong need for increased advocacy for inclusive design in the area of these immersive technologies. Ultimately, I would like to be a UX designer/researcher and accessibility specialist and work to develop AR/VR technologies.
In my free time I love to read, journal, and hang out with my bunnies.
